Bangladesh, March 23 -- The World Water Day 2019 was observed in the capital on Friday with a view to creating awareness about water usage while ensuring access to water for all.

The theme of this year is intended to address the issue of equitable access to water: Leaving no one behind.

This is also the central to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to be achieved by 2030.

As part of observing the day, speakers at a workshop stressed the need for applying nature-based solutions to improve water management in the Ganges-Brahmaputra-Meghna basin.

The basin is home to approximately 620 million people in five countries such as China, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal.
