Dhaka, Jan. 17 -- The irony of the case of genocidal acts and intent brought against Israel by South Africa before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) is obvious. The Genocide Convention was the first human rights treaty adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1948 and signified the international community's commitment to 'never again' allow the atrocities committed during the Second World War, particularly with reference to the Holocaust against the Jews by Nazi Germany. Israel is one among 153 countries that have signed the Convention and is a party to it.
