Dhaka, May 4 -- A helicopter that belongs to the Russian army violated the airspace of Finland on Wednesday amid reports of rapid progress in the Nordic country's NATO membership bid.

The latest violation is the second one since the beginning of the war between Ukraine and Russia. The first incident was reported on April 8.

According to an NDTV report, which cited a global news agency, said the depth of the latest suspected violation is about four to five kilometres and the type of helicopter is Mi-17.

Before declaring independence in 1917, Finland was ruled by Russia for 108 years.

Finland, which shares a 1,340km-long border with Russia, hopes it would get a positive result in its NATO membership bid in the shortest possible time.
