Dhaka, March 25 -- The nation is set to observe the Genocide Day today (Monday) in remembrance of the brutality carried out by the Pakistan occupation army on unarmed Bangalees on the black night of March 25 in 1971 under the infamous 'Operation Searchlight'.

The government has taken up various programmes to mark the day at the state level with due respect, reports BSS.

A one-minute symbolic 'blackout' will be staged tonight throughout the country on the occasion.

The "blackout" programme will be observed from 11:00 pm to 11:01 pm to pay homage to those killed by the Pakistani occupation forces on the dreadful night in 1971.
