Dhaka, Feb. 15 -- The metro rail is set to reduce the time gap of train operations by increasing the number of trains next week amid a mounting pressure of passengers on the first corridor from Uttara to Motijheel.

Sources said time of train operations of the mass rapid transit line 6 (MRT 6) will be reduced to six to seven minutes' interval from the present 10 to 12 minutes according to peak and off-peak hours as all preparations have been completed.

The Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) will announce the changed plan in a press conference today.

The sources said as the MRT 6 has been getting passengers with its full capacity in most cases, the DMTCL has been on the pressure to increase the number of coaches from ignorance. ...
