Dhaka, March 13 -- Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Muhammad Faruk Khan has urged Japan to invest in the development of Bangladesh's tourism industry.

He made the appeal during a meeting with Iwama Kiminori, Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh, at the Secretariat on Wednesday.

The Minister said, "Bangladesh assures the best environment for investment among the South Asian countries. At the same time, Bangladesh is taking various initiatives to attract foreign tourists as well as increase domestic tourism. As a result, Japanese investment in developing our existing tourism infrastructure and building new tourist centres will be considered a profitable venture."
