Dhaka, Feb. 27 -- Japan's government has decided to provide the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) with $2.7 million in assistance for humanitarian support to the Rohingyas staying in Bangladesh and the host communities.

This donation will be used for disaster risk reduction, shelter upgrade, site management and site development and protection for the Rohingya refugees and host communities in Cox's Bazar under the WASH programme, said a spokesperson for the Japan Embassy said.

To this effect, an exchange of notes was signed by Japan's Ambassador to Bangladesh IWAMA Kiminori and Chief of Mission, IOM Bangladesh Abdusattor Esoev.
