Dhaka, Feb. 28 -- Transport workers in Sylhet district started an indefinite strike beginning at 6:00 am on Wednesday to press home their five-point demands including an end to the ongoing gas crisis.

Sylhet district road transport workers union called the strike from a protest rally held on 25 February, reports UNB.

The stock of gas at CNG stations in Sylhet runs out after 18 to 20 days each month, causing hardship for CNG-run vehicles, according to the protestors.

Md Zakaria Ahmed, central committee law affairs secretary of Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation said, if their demands aren't met, they will call for an extended strike throughout the Sylhet division.
