Dhaka, March 13 -- The High Court (HC) has questioned the legality of indiscriminate drives conducted by different government agencies in hotels and restaurants in the capital.

Issuing a rule it wanted to know form the government bodies concerned to explain as to why they should not be directed to allow the business of the restaurant owners who carry on their functions in accordance with law and with all required documents.

The HC bench comprising Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Md Atabullah passed the order after hearing a petition filed in this regard.

The Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) and other bodies concerned have been asked to comply with the rule.
