Dhaka, May 24 -- Awami League leader Haji Mohammad Salim has appealed to the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court for acquittal following a High Court verdict that confirmed his 10-year imprisonment in a graft case.

Salim is currently undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) after he landed in jail on Sunday following his conviction in the corruption case.

Confirming the matter, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) counsel Khurshid Alam Khan told the Financial Express (FE) that the convicted Haji Salim has also applied for bail through his lawyer Sayeed Ahmed Raza.
