Dhaka, May 7 -- The government has requested Saudi authorities to extend the Hajj visa application deadline again as most of the applicants do not have visas yet.

On April 30, the Saudi government extended the Hajj visa application deadline for Bangladeshis until May 7.

Hajj flights are scheduled to start on May 9 after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would inaugurate this year's Hajj flights on May 8, said a local news portal.

Out of 85,257 Hajj visa applicants, only about 35,000 visas have been completed so far.

The officials of the Ministry of Religious Affairs said that they already requested the Saudi government the Hajj visa application period to extend the Hajj visa application period to overcome the situation.
