Dhaka, May 25 -- Bangladesh Jewellers' Association (BAJUS) has slashed the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 1,283 per bhori (11.664 grammes).

The new rate for the precious metal will come into effect on Sunday, BAJUS said in a statement on Saturday, attributing the adjustment to a decrease in pure gold prices in the local market.

According to the new tariff, 22-carat gold will be sold at Tk 117,177 per bhori, 21-carat at Tk 111,846, 18-carat at Tk 95,866, and traditional gold at Tk 79,257 per bhori.

On Thursday, the local jewellers cut the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 1,084 per bhori.
