Dhaka, Sept. 28 -- COVID-19 infections among health workers in the country topped 8,000 mark while the virus also infected over 900 newsmen.

Meanwhile, 88 doctors died in the pandemic since March 18, according to Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA).

Besides, some 2,791 doctors, 1,956 nurses and some 3,258 other health staff got infected with the novel coronavirus since March 8 till September 28 totalling the number to 8005, said BMA, the apex body of physicians, on Monday in a media statement.

BMA expressed deep condolences to the victims' families in the media statement saying that the contribution of the physicians in such a condition must not be forgotten.
