Dhaka, Sept. 3 -- Bangladesh has registered 70 new fatalities from COVID-19 in a day, taking the death toll to 26,432.

The caseload surged to 1,510,283 after 3,167 people tested positive for the disease in the 24 hours to 8:00 am Friday, according to the latest government data, reports bdnews24.com.

Dhaka registered the most daily deaths and new cases among the eight divisions, logging 24 fatalities and 1,859 infections. Chattogram tallied 15 deaths and 458 cases.

Nationwide, another 4,697 people recovered from the illness, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,442,582.
