Dhaka, May 10 -- A Bangladeshi expatriate has reportedly committed suicide in Dubai, a city in the United Arab Emirates.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Farooq Sarker, 35, a native of Barpara in Sakhipur village under Daudkandi upazila in Cumilla.

The Consulate General of Bangladesh in Dubai confirmed that he died on Thursday (local time), according to bdnews24.com.

Locals alleged that the migrant worker 'died by suicide' due to financial stress and a family dispute.

Mohammad Farooq Sarker used to live in a flat at the Al Zarooni Building in the Qusais area of Dubai.
