Dhaka, May 18 -- Nearly half, or 47 per cent, of the Bangladesh market for electrical accessories and lighting products is occupied by anonymous brands, which are either locally manufactured, substandard counterfeits, or illegally imported to evade taxes, a study reveals.

The remaining 53 per cent of the market is occupied by products from various affiliated brands or companies, according to the study conducted by Marketing Watch Bangladesh (MWB).

Domestic companies account for about 94 per cent of the branded electrical accessories and 89.01 per cent of the branded lighting products, with their market share continuing to grow, the study added.
