Bangladesh, Sept. 22 -- BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Saturday alleged that Awami League leaders have bogged down in corruption, shattering the country's socio-political and economic structures.

"The government has sunk in corruption up to its throat. From their (AL's) high-level leaders to the grassroots are now immersed in corruption, and we've seen some evidence of that over the last few days," he said.

Fakhrul came up with the comments while talking to reporters after placing wreaths at BNP founder Ziaur Rahman's grave together with newly-elected president and general secretary of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD).
