New Delhi, March 28 -- In yet another move impacting household budgets, theKarnataka governmenton Thursday approved a fresh hike in milk and curd prices, further tightening the financial strain on consumers. After increasing public transport fares earlier this year, the state administration has now raised the price of essential dairy products by Rs 4 per litre, effective April 1.
The decision, announced on March 27 by Animal Husbandry and Silk Production Minister K Venkatesh, comes in response to persistent demands from dairy farmers, cooperatives, and the Animal Husbandry Department.
