New Delhi, July 15 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a mega economic stimulus package on May 12, 2020, amounting to Rs 20 lakh crore, under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan. The focus of the package aimed at making India self-reliant in the post-Covid-19 economic reconstruction. Prime Minister Modi spoke about achieving self-reliance by giving thrust on two themes: 'vocal for local' and 'local to global'.
The thrust on self-reliance comes at a time when India imports significant volumes of electronic and electrical products, edible oil, minerals, etc, for meeting domestic demand.
