New Delhi, Dec. 25 -- Two months after a survey released by the food safety and standards authority found carcinogenic aflatoxins in 70% of the milk samples collected from the district, the animal husbandry department is considering conducting spot checks in farms to check for presence of the fungus in their animal feed.

The food safety department has already collected more milk samples to identify the dairy farms from where the aflatoxin containing samples could have been originated.According to the National Milk Safety and Quality Survey released in October, of the 35 milk samples collected in the district 24 contained aflatoxin, a group of poisonous carcinogens, which can cause severe damage to the digestive system, besides cancer in th...
