Tanzania, April 10 -- Dar es Salaam. The Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA) has put residents of 14 regions on alert as it forecasts heavy rains starting April 12, 2024.

Issued on Wednesday, the advisory says Dar es Salaam, Tanga, Zanzibar and Morogoro as among those likely to be affected.

The TMA statement said on Wednesday that heavy rainfall is also expected in Coast, Lindi, Mtwara, Rukwa, Iringa, Mbeya, Songwe, Njombe and Ruvuma, in addition to Unguja and Pemba islands.

The authority has forewarned of potential consequences such as flooding and disruptions to economic activities within the specified areas.
