New Delhi, June 23 -- India beat Afghanistan by 11 runs in a close fought match in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 at Southampton on Saturday.

India played first and scored 224 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 50 overs and set the target of 225, chasing the target Afghanistan scored 213 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in 49.5 overs.

Captain Virat Kohli scored 67 Runs from 63 balls, whereas K.Jadhav scored 52 runs from 68 balls.

For Afghanistan M.Nabi scored 52 runs from 55 balls.

M. Shami in the last over picked 3 wickets to ensure victory for India.

India will play West Indies next on 27th June.
