New Delhi, March 29 -- The number of coronavirus cases in India rose to 979 on Sunday, with 25 fatalities, the Health Ministry said.

Maharashtra has highest number of cases, followed by Kerala, Karnataka and Telangana.

There are total 867 active cases, 86 people have been cured/discharged, the Ministry said.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday chaired a review meeting on preparations to fight the COVID-19 epidemic. This was the third review meeting since the nationwide lockdown began on March 25, in the wake of this epidemic.
