New Delhi, Jan. 25 -- After shutting off for nearly six months, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has decided to restore broadband and mobile Internet connectivity in the valley from Saturday.

According to a notification by the home department, Mobile data services and internet access through fixed-line shall be allowed across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir but with restrictions. The internet speed shall be restricted to 2G only."

The 2G mobile internet services on postpaid as well as prepaid phones will be restored and they will remain in effect till January 31 after which it would be reviewed further, it said.
