Singapore, Oct. 23 -- You know how siblings can often be so different? Same thing with the latest Hyundai Santa Fe, a bigger brother to the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid reviewed here last month.

It has the same powertrain as the Tucson, with a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder paired with a compact front-mounted electric motor. Via a six-speed automatic gearbox, 230hp goes to the front axle - exactly like in the Tucson.

But being a sizeably bigger car, the 5+2 seater Santa Fe does not feel as breezy as its five-seater sibling. Weighing 216kg more at 1,780kg, the bigger car takes 8.9 seconds to hit 100kmh and peaks at 187kmh, versus the Tucson's 8 seconds and 193kmh.
