Singapore, April 16 -- They say it takes a village to raise a child.

The saying certainly applies to bowler Ryan Toh of Westwood Secondary School, who was crowned the B Division boys' all-events champion at the National School Games (NSG) yesterday with 3,930 pinfalls.

The singles champion finished ahead of Singapore Sports School's Gerald Teng (3,924) and Hai Sing Catholic School's Aiman Raedyn Lim (3,852).

The national development squad player trains four times a week at bowling academy Bowling Is Science, which has been appointed a Centre of Excellence (COE) by the Singapore Bowling Federation to run its bowling development programme.

But 17-year-old Ryan's sporting success is also down to the support from his school.
