Singapore, Dec. 9 -- Diamonds are a girl's best friend. But girls often overpay for them, so says Mr Nicholas Lim, founder and chief executive of online diamond marketplace Luxiee.
"Diamonds that you purchase through normal retail channels can be very overpriced owing to the premiums and mark-ups by the suppliers and brands," he said.
"And these mark-ups can go up to as much as 300 per cent for GIA-certified diamonds."
The GIA, or the Gemological Institute of America, is the global ratings body for all diamonds.
