I was surprised to receive a notice under Section 180 of the Motor Vehicles Act (No. 10879171 dated 16th March 2025), served on me by post on 26th March 2025, at the residential address of my late father, Abdul Karim (Retd. DSP), at No. 10, Vivekananda Road, Yadavagiri.

The Officer-in-Charge of the Enforcement Automation Centre issued the notice during my recent visit to Mysuru. The notice directs me to pay a fine of Rs. 500 for allegedly "riding without a helmet" on a motorcycle bearing Registration No. CTO 2838 near LIC Circle, Mysuru, at 14:42 hours on 15th March 2025.
