The news regarding the decision of the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) to finally enforce safety measures is indeed a welcome development. It comes after the tragic and untimely loss of four lives due to the negligence of the MCC staff.

There are numerous poorly constructed road humps scattered throughout Mysuru City, many of which are nothing more than vertical mounds of asphalted jelly stones masquerading as road humps. These humps not only fail to serve their purpose as speed-breakers but also pose a serious threat to both vehicles and passengers.
