Mysore/Mysuru, Dec. 24 -- Special checking from Dec. 24 to 30

In a bid to reduce road accident fatalities due to driving and riding vehicles under the influence of alcohol, the City Traffic Police will be conducting special checking drives against drunk and driving across the city from today (Dec. 24) till Dec. 30.

City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar, in a press release, has warned motorists that drunk driving is a punishable offence under Section 185 of Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and includes a fine of Rs. 10,000 and / or imprisonment for up to six months.
