India, Sept. 7 -- Mysuru, Sept. 7 (SBD&DM)- Ahead of the 15-day caste census to be conducted by the Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes from Sept. 22 to Oct. 7, house listing work has begun across the State to ensure that no household is left out of the survey.
The house listing is being carried out with the cooperation of all five Electricity Supply Corporations (ESCOMs) - CESCOM, BESCOM, HESCOM, GESCOM and MESCOM. The caste census will cover a population of 7 crore and aims to collect data on caste, financial status and land ownership.
This fresh survey replaces the earlier one conducted in 2015, whose report, prepared by the Commission headed by H. Kantharaj, was submitted to the Government only in 2024.
