Mysore/Mysuru, Aug. 16 -- Bishop Francis Serrao, presently Bishop of Shivamogga Diocese and Chairman of the CCBI Commission for Ecumenism, has been appointed the new Bishop of Mysuru by His Holiness Pope Leo XIV. This announcement was made in Rome on Aug. 15 at 3.30 pm (IST), said Archbishop Emeritus Bernard Moras, who is also the Apostolic Administrator, Diocese of Mysuru, in a press release.
Bishop Serrao, a Jesuit, was appointed Bishop of Shivamogga on March 19, 2014, and was ordained on May 7 of the same year. Born on August 15, 1959, in Moodbidri in the Diocese of Mangaluru, he entered the Society of Jesus on Jan. 3, 1979, at Mount St. Joseph, Bengaluru.
