This is with reference to the report published in Star of Mysore dated Nov. 5, regarding the Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar's opinion on the proposed construction of two new flyovers in the city - Vinoba Road and Jhansi Rani Lakshmibai (JLB) Road.

I wholeheartedly support his concern over this hasty and ill-considered project.

Mysuru is globally admired for its heritage charm, architectural beauty and well-planned urban landscape. The construction of flyovers in the heart of the city will not only mar the heritage skyline but also permanently alter the character that defines Mysuru's identity. Once heritage is lost, it cannot be recreated.

Development is important, but it should not come...
