In a major boost to health infrastructure in Mandya district and surroundings, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given his consent for the proposal to establish a super speciality hospital on the lines of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
Following a proposal submitted by Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy, who is also the Mandya MP, Modi has given his approval to build the hospital under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), at an estimated cost of Rs. 311 crore.
