Colombo, Sri Lanka, Feb. 27 -- Sri Lanka Army issued the following press release:
Troops of the 18th Battalion of the Gemunu Watch (18 GW) swiftly responded to a request from the Disaster Management Centre, Monaragala, and doused a wildfire in the Henawala Kanda forest reserve, Monaragala, on 24 February 2025.
Over 25 troops were engaged in the operation under the guidance of Major General W.S.N Hemarathna RWP RSP psc, General Officer Commanding of the 12 Infantry Division, and the supervision of the Commanding Officer of 18 GW.
