COLOMBO, April 21 -- Explosions rocked Sri Lanka on Sunday morning, with at least three churches and two hotels being targeted, news reports stated.

According to authorities, several people were feared dead, with some initial reports stating that 52 people had lost their lives and 280 people had been hospitalised.

Worshippers were targeted at the Kochikade, St Sebastian and Batticaloa churches during Easter mass. The other two locations where blasts occurred are the Hotel Shangri La and Cinnamon Grand, both in Colombo.

No group has claimed responsibility for the Easter Sunday attacks.

It has been 10 years since a bloody ethnic civil war ended in Sri Lanka, with the elimination of the Tamil Tigers.
