New Delhi, May 2 -- The counting of votes for the Assembly elections has begun in the four states- Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Union Territory of Puducherry adhering to COVID-19 protocols.

While Assam and West Bengal saw multiple phases of polling, electors in Kerala, Puducherry and Tamil Nadu cast their votes in a single phase on April 6.

11:48 am: The early trends in West Bengal assembly polls show that though Mamata Banerjee is trailing behind BJP's Suvendu Adhikary in Nandigram, the ruling Trinamool Congress is having an edge over the BJP. The initial trends show that the Trinamool is leading in 186 seats.
