Hyderabad, March 1 -- Environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk remarked that the demand for inclusion of Ladakh in the sixth schedule of the Indian Constitution did not come from the people, but was a promise made by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in its manifesto during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, and again during the elections for the Ladakh Hill Council in 2020.

He was speaking at the national convention of the National Alliance of People's Movements (NAPM) held at the Exhibition Grounds in Hyderabad on Saturday, March 1. The convention commemorated 30 years of NAPM's journey with the theme - "Defending Democracy- Constitutional Justice to Climate Change."
