Mumbai, Jan. 16 -- The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) on Friday, January 16, won 114 seats in the municipal corporation elections in Maharashtra, increasing its tally significantly from the previous elections in 2017.
AIMIM's victory came on the back of its success in the recently held Bihar Assembly polls. In December 2025, the party announced that it would contest the elections in the western state on a larger scale. The gamble has now paid off.
The AIMIM had in 2017 contested the municipal corporation elections in selected cities, where it managed to win 81 seats. The party focussed on minority strongholds in Maharashtra and strengthened its base across India's richest state.
