India, Jan. 8 -- President Donald Trump has ordered the United States to withdraw from 31 UN-linked entities, saying they "no longer serve American interests", in a move driven by his America First ideology.

The decision bars US agencies from participating in or funding the UN-linked bodies and 35 non-UN organisations. The White House said the targeted institutions undermine US sovereignty and advance "globalist agendas".

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the organisations seek to constrain US sovereignty and are driven by what he termed an "elite multilateral NGO-plex", adding that the US would cooperate only where it benefits Americans.
