New Delhi, Dec. 2 -- As India aims for a $5 trillion economy, efficient logistics are vital, with Indian Railways playing a key role by transporting goods and passengers effectively.

As of November 2025, freight loading grew by 3.3% to 1,070.8 million tonnes, surpassing loading levels of the entire year 2013-14 in just eight months.

The shift to rail transport, costing nearly half as much as road alternatives, enhances industrial supply chains and fosters sustainable logistics, supporting India's Net Zero Carbon Emission goals.

In November 2025 alone, freight loading reached 135.7 million tonnes, up 4.2% from the previous year, driven by increases in major commodity transport such as Pig Iron, Finished Steel, and Iron Ore.
