India, Dec. 26 -- As of December 1, 2025, the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) has reached 10.35 crore beneficiaries, promoting access to clean cooking fuel.
A targeted subsidy of Rs 300 per 14.2 kg LPG cylinder for up to nine refills annually has led to increased LPG consumption, averaging about 4.85 refills per capita for FY 2025-26.
To enhance assistance, the government approved 25 lakh additional connections for FY 2025-26, improving subsidy targeting through Aadhaar authentication. Consumer safety was emphasized via a 'Basic Safety Check' campaign, conducting over 12.12 crore inspections.
