India, Dec. 30 -- Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced that India achieved a record 5.5 lakh domestic trade mark filings in 2024-25, reflecting strong institutional support for innovators.
He emphasized the Trade Marks Act of 1999 as crucial for protecting these interests, contributing to a favorable innovation ecosystem under the Modi government.
The minister noted that the leading trade mark registrations were in pharmaceuticals and related sectors. The Act facilitates brand protection, competition, and adapts to global business needs, allowing for registration, renewal, transfer, and enforcement against infringement.
