India, Dec. 22 -- Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced that the recently notified Petroleum and Natural Gas Rules 2025 will significantly transform India's hydrocarbons sector, enhancing domestic production and energy security.

The regulations clarify lease value disputes, like the ongoing one concerning ONGC's oil discovery in West Bengal, and impose a 180-day approval limit for petroleum leases. This advancement is expected to expedite production from Ashok Nagar, which has been delayed.
