India, Jan. 20 -- Indian Railways successfully operated 244 special trains during the Mauni Amavasya period from January 3, facilitating travel for over 4.5 lakh devotees.

Notable operations included 40 special trains on January 18 in Prayagraj alone. The initiative reflected a commitment to providing safe and efficient services during peak festive seasons, with effective planning and coordination.

In addition, Indian Railways had previously undertaken extensive operations for major festivals and holiday seasons, managing thousands of special train trips in 2025 to ensure smooth passenger movement.
