New Delhi, Dec. 16 -- Indian Railways has significantly increased its fertiliser loading, reaching 17,168 rakes by November 30, marking an 11.7% rise from 15,369 rakes the previous year.
This effort supports India's agricultural economy by ensuring timely fertiliser supply to farmers for sowing and harvesting, which stabilizes farm incomes and enhances food security.
The ministry emphasized the role of Indian Railways in aiding rural livelihoods and maintaining efficient transport, highlighting its commitment to nation-building and the agricultural supply chain. Additionally, freight loading has increased markedly, and competitive freight rates have remained unchanged since 2018.
