India, Jan. 31 -- Indian Railways has commissioned 472.3 route kilometres (RKms) of the Kavach Version 4.0 Automatic Train Protection System across three sections, enhancing rail safety significantly.
The newly included sections are Vadodara-Virar (344 km), Tuglakabad-Palwal (35 km), and Manpur-Sarmatanr (93.3 km), representing the highest RKms of Kavach commissioned in a single day and month. Kavach employs microprocessors, GPS, and radio communication to notify train operators of nearby trains and can automatically apply brakes if necessary.
