New Delhi, Sept. 12 -- India is set to double the share of natural gas in its energy mix to 15 per cent by 2030, as part of a low-carbon growth strategy that aims for 500 GW of non-fossil energy capacity by the same year.

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri highlighted government initiatives including the distribution of 4 billion LED bulbs, 10.33 crore LPG connections, a 5 million metric tonne green hydrogen target, and the development of indigenous battery technology. The country will expand its gas pipeline network to 33,475 km and increase LNG capacity to 66.7 MMTPA by 2030.
