India, Dec. 25 -- India has been selected to assume the Chairpersonship of the Kimberley Process (KP) starting January 1, 2026, according to a Commerce Ministry announcement.

Minister Piyush Goyal noted that this decision reflects the global trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government regarding integrity and transparency in international trade.

As Vice Chair in 2025 and Chair in 2026, India aims to work with all KP participants to reinforce confidence, ensure compliance with rules, and enhance the framework's credibility amidst evolving global expectations.
