New Delhi, Oct. 8 -- India is committed to enhancing self-reliance in energy exploration and production, according to Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
He emphasized the importance of oil and natural gas for India's industrial growth and modernization, which provide access to modern energy for 1.42 billion people.
As India aims for energy independence by 2047, Puri noted the country's status as a leading energy consumer and the need to significantly increase energy capacity.
He remarked on the National Deepwater Mission and significant reforms in the energy sector while stressing that energy transition requires a nuanced understanding rather than a complete shift from fossil fuels.
